1913 T200 Fatima Cleveland Americans Including Joe Jackson

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $711

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. The Cleveland Americans team is one of the key cards from the popular T200 Fatima set, because of the inclusion on this team of future "Black Sox" star Joe Jackson. This high-quality tobacco issue remarkably still provides collectors with the ability to acquire a card of Joe Jackson from his playing days without spending a fortune. Issued one card per pack with Fatima cigarettes, the T200 set is one of the most distinctive of all tobacco-card issues in part because it features real photographs of teams. In addition to Joe Jackson, the Cleveland Indians team is highlighted by Hall of Famer Napoleon Lajoie. This technically mid-grade example is far better than most examples. (As most collectors are aware, a grade of VG-EX for a T200 is the equivalent of a far higher grade for other standard tobacco-card issues, such as T206.) It has a crystal-clear photograph, square corners, and only a single very light bend in the bottom right corner (seen only when held at the right angle under extreme lighting). This is an exceptionally high grade example for this issue, as T200s are notorious for cracked surfaces due to their brittle crease-prone glossy surface. It is extremely well centered, perfect side-to-side and approximately 65/35 top-to-bottom. This a very attractive example of this key 1910-era tobacco card featuring the legendary Joe Jackson during his playing days. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $711
