1911 E100 Bishop & Co. Roger Peckinpaugh SGC EX/NM 80 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,185

Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. This is the only example graded at this level with none higher by SGC! Extremely rare (and for this issue in very highgrade) sample of Roger Peckinpaugh from the 1911 E100 Bishop & Co. Type I series. The thirty-card 1911 E100 Bishop & Co. Type 1 set is one of the rarest of all Pacific Coast League and 1910-era candy-card issues. They are also one of the most interesting and distinctively designed of all caramel-card issues. Peckinpaugh is a special card in the set as he and Buck Weaver are the most prominent players featured. Peckinpaugh played briefly with Cleveland in 1910, was with Portland in the PCL in 1911 (the year this card was issued), and then returned to the Major Leagues in 1912 for the second season of what would be a seventeen-year career in the majors. The offered example is bright and crisp with a bold red background, crisp image, four strong corners showing light touches of wear, and centering to the left. The checklist reverse is boldly printed in black ink with near-perfect centering. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,185
