1910 D322 Tip Top Bread Owen Wilson - SGC NM 84 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $948
Graded NM 84 by SGC. Highest-graded example by SGC or PSA for Owen Wilson (or any player in the D322 set). To put the condition of this card into proper context, of the 515 D322s that SGC has graded in total, only four of ANY player have been graded NM 84, and none have ever been graded higher! Similarly, PSA has graded only five examples NM 7, out of the 362 examples of all D322s ever graded by PSA, also with none higher. This is an ideal ultra high-grade sample card from the 25-card 1910 D322 Tip Top Bread set issued by the Ward-Mackey Company. This very scarce set was regionally issued in the Pittsburgh area, and features only members of the Pirates, the National League champions of the previous year. The reverse has advertising for Tip Top Bread, and provides a complete checklist for the set. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with four sharp corners, no creases, and centered just a hint to the right (with a very slight natural diamond cut). The reverse has a tiny spot of toning in the center (mentioned strictly for accuracy). This is an extraordinarily crisp, clean card, and for this issue a particularly high-grade sample card of this scarce prewar food issue. This card was sold at REA in 2011 and has been consigned to this auction directly from the buyer at that auction. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $948
