1915 T214 Victory Tobacco Buck Herzog PSA VG-EX 4

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $5,333

The 1915 T214 Victory set is an obscure series of tobacco cards, issued exclusively in the Louisiana area, which is sometimes mistaken for the T206 White Border set. Victory Tobacco is one of the few sets which feature players from the Federal League, in addition to featuring players from the National and American Leagues. Offered is a rare sample card of Buck Herzog of Cincinnati. Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, this is the ONLY example ever graded of Herzog by PSA or SGC. It is an outstanding and particularly attractive example in all respects. Victory Tobacco cards have a glossy coated surface which is very susceptible to creasing, and which makes high-grade examples such as this particularly rare. In fact, in addition to this card, only two other examples (of any player) have ever graded VG-EX or higher out of a total of sixty-six cards evaluated to date by PSA and SGC. This is a very attractive example, with only a very faint crease at the tip of the lower right corner. The front is bright and clean with vibrant colors. The reverse is also very clean, which is ideal for a sample of this rare issue. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $5,333
