1909 E254 Colgan's Chips Ty Cobb PSA NM-MT 8

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,133

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Extraordinary ultra high-grade E254 Colgan’s Chips card of Ty Cobb. This is an extreme rarity in such high grade. PSA has only graded three examples at this level (with just one higher). This is one of Ty Cobb's most unusual and striking cards. This card is also noteworthy as it features the very same Carl Horner portrait as appears on Cobb's T206 card. Perfectly clean both front and back, and with a crisp, flawless image. Boldly printed advertisement on reverse, centered slightly to the top. Colgan's obviously don't have corner wear, but it is a miracle there is only the faintest hint of edge wear from normal handling. Cobb, of course, is one of the key stars of the set. This is a stunning high-grade example of one of Ty Cobb’s most classic and unusual cards, from one of vintage-card collecting's most distinctive sets. The SMR value in the assigned grade is $1,850. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,133
