1910 E103 Williams Caramel Chas. Dooin PSA NM 7 & David Jones PSA EX-MT 6 - Both 1 of 1 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,963

Exceptional pair of cards from the E103 Williams Caramel issue, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. This pair consists of Chas. Dooin (NM 7, Philadelphia Phillies) and David Jones (EX-MT 6, Detroit Tigers). The two cards offered in this lot are extreme condition rarities, both for this issue and caramel cards in general. In fact, the Dooin card is the only card from this series (of any subject) ever to receive a grade of NM, which is the highest grade ever awarded to any one of the 302 cards from the E103 set evaluated by PSA to date. Similarly, the Jones card is the one of only three cards to receive a grade of EX-MT (this is the only example of Jones at this level, with none higher). The E103 Williams Caramel set is easily distinguished from other caramel sets of the era by the bright red background highlighting each player's portrait. As noted on each card along the lower margin, the Williams Candy Company was located in Oxford, Pennsylvania, and this candy was very likely issued on a somewhat regional basis. This fact almost certainly accounts for their great rarity. When they are found, they usually have serious condition problems, which is not surprising considering that these cards were issued to children one card per package of candy. Each card is crisp and clean, both front and back, with bright white borders, bold red backgrounds, and four strong corners. This is an extraordinary pair of cards, each worthy of the world's finest E103 set or sample-card collection. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $2,963
