1910 E125 American Caramel Harry Hooper

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,666

Graded VG 40 by SGC. This is the only example ever graded by SGC! This striking E125 American Caramel card features Hall of Famer Harry Hooper of the Boston Red Sox. The E125 Harry Hooper has survived complete with all tabs intact. The stand-up flaps appear to have never been folded back. Bright and clean, both front and back, with a crease on Hooper's neck and his right leg, of little consequence to the otherwise overall Excellent appearance of the card. A small surface indentation on the right tab has no impact but is mentioned for the sake of accuracy. The reverse of the card has evidence of three tape marks (which are very unobtrusive) from being mounted in an album long ago, and is otherwise crisp and perfectly clean. This is an extraordinary example of one of the most elusive Hooper cards, from one of the rarest and most uniquely designed prewar issues ever produced. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,666
