1911 M116 Sporting Life Walter Johnson

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,778

Graded EX 60 by SGC (submitted by REA). Featuring a majestic portrait of the legendary pitcher, the Walter Johnson card is one of the key Hall of Famers in the M116 Sporting Life set. Like his portrait card in T206, this card is universally recognized as one of Johnson's most striking baseball cards. Clean and crisp, both front and back, with four sharp corners, very light wear along the bottom edge (mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy), and a flawless surface. Centered to the bottom. The Sporting Life advertising on the back is boldly printed. This card represents an excellent value, in our opinion, especially compared to other quality 1910-era issues featuring Johnson. (The SMR value for this card in Excellent condition is $1,100.) This is a high-quality vintage card in an extremely desirable grade that would be a worthy addition to any M116, Walter Johnson, or classic Hall of Fame card collection. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+.
