1902-1911 W600 Sporting Life John Kling

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $948

Graded GOOD+ 35 by SGC (submitted by REA). This card is the only example of Chicago Cubs catcher John Kling from the W600 Sporting Life cabinet-card set graded at any level by SGC or PSA. W600s are one of the rarest sets from the early part of the century, and are one of the most substantial and well-made card sets ever produced. With good reason, they have always been highly prized by serious collectors. This example is bright, crisp, and clean with a perfect surface and bold image. The edges are flawless with even wear to each of the four corners. The blank reverse is almost entirely clean with only light streaks of glue residue in the bottom right corner of the card, which are responsible for the modest assigned grade. The card is otherwise VG-EX. This is a very striking example of Johnny Kling from one of the most important of all twentieth-century sets. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $948
