Pair of Circa 1940s Negro League Pennants

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $474

Two scarce Negro League pennants representing, respectively, the "N. Y. Black Yankees" and the "Homestead Grays." In addition to the team name lettered in white, each pennant also displays a colorful illustrated baseball scene to the left. These are two from what we believe was a set of six Negro League pennants issued during the 1940s (the only other four Negro League pennants of this style we have seen were issued for the Philadelphia Stars, Newark Eagles, Baltimore Elite Giants, and the New York Cuban Stars). The N. Y. Black Yankees pennant (25 inches) displays a tiny clip at the tip and is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall. The Homestead Grays pennant (23.5 inches) displays a tiny clip to the tip and is in Excellent condition overall. Both pennants have been mounted and framed together to total dimensions of 33 x 19 inches. Total: 2 pennants in a framed display. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $474
