1902-1911 W600 Sporting Life Samuel Mertes - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,067

Graded EX+ 70 by SGC (submitted by REA). Highest graded! Superb example of New York Giants outfielder Samuel Mertes from the W600 Sporting Life cabinet-card set. W600s are one of the rarest sets from the early part of the century, and are one of the most substantial and well-made card sets ever produced. With good reason, they have always been highly prized by serious collectors. Bright, crisp, and clean, with strong corners displaying even wear, flawless surface, and bold image. The blank reverse is perfectly clean. This is a very striking example in extremely high grade from one of the most important of all twentieth-century sets, and would be a significant addition to any W600 or prewar-card collection. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,067
