1908 Jacksonville Team-Composite Photograph

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $237

Extremely striking composite display photograph capturing fourteen members of the 1908 Jacksonville Jays, a Class C minor league club playing in the South Atlantic League. All of the team members are pictured in uniform, with the exception of the club treasurer, and have been identified by name and position below their respective photos. The team and year are also noted in black lettering within the design of the photo. Included here are Carl Sitton and Tommy McMillan, both of whom eventually played in the Major Leagues. Also pictured in the composite are the sports editors for two local papers. The photo (9.5 x 7.5 inches) displays a vertical crease that extends through the entire piece, as well as a few smaller, lighter creases. In Very Good to Excellent condition (displays as Ex-Mt) with outstanding clarity, contrast, and presence. This is an extremely high quality display photo (of such a high quality that we believe it was very likely produced for the players). The photo is affixed to cardboard mount (10 x 8 inches; visible dimensions) that is in apparent Excellent condition. Matted and framed to total dimensions of 15.5 x 14 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $237
