1968 O-Pee-Chee Pin-Ups PSA-Graded Complete Set Minus One (31/32)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $593

Near-complete set of thirty-one 1968 O-Pee-Chee Pin-Ups (missing only #32 Morgan for completion), entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA (except for one deemed miscut). These 5 x 7 pin-ups are nearly identical to the Topps Posters of the same year (but with a copyright reading "T.C.G.-Ptd. in Canada" in the lower left). The posters feature full-color images of stars and Hall of Famers, including Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Mickey Mantle. Issued in Canada as inserts in O-Pee-Chee packs, the offered pin-ups are considerably scarcer than their American counterparts. PSA Grading Composite: One NM-MT 8: #15 Mays (OC). Four EX-MT 6: #5, 13, 18 Marichal, and 25 (OC). Seven EX 5: #3 Yastrzemski (MC), 7, 10, 16, 21, 27 (MC), and 30 (MC). One VG-EX 4: #6 Drysdale. Three VG 3: #1 B. Robinson, 4 Clemente, and 31 Killebrew (MC). One GOOD+ 2.5: #22. Six GOOD 2: #2 (MC), 8 Aaron, 14, 10 (MC), 23, and 28 McCovey. One FAIR 1.5: #12. Six POOR 1: #9, 11 Mantle (MC, presents NM with tear in middle), 17 Kaline, 24, 26, and 29 (MK). One Ungraded: #20 (deemed miscut by PSA). As is often the case with these inserts, which were designed with folds and are easily susceptible to wear, many of the cards present at a better level than suggested by their assigned grades. The grading of this set in its entirety also represents a tremendous cost that has already been invested. This is a very attractive complete set (minus one) of this unusual 1960s insert set. Total: 31 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $593
