1958 Hires Root Beer Complete Set Without Tabs (66)

Complete set of sixty-six different 1958 Hires Root Beer cards, all without tabs. Hires Root Beer cards were designed to be issued one card per six-pack of Hires Root Beer. The cards were produced with tabs at the bottom advertising membership in the Hires Baseball Club and a copy of the book How To Play Baseball. The tabs were intended to be removed from the card and sent to Hires along with two bottle caps and ten cents to take advantage of the advertised offer. The complete set grades 70% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt and 30% Ex (including five Vg to Vg-Ex). The cards vary in size, up to 1/4-inch each way, as is common for this issue. Keys: #10 Ashburn (Vg), 13 Newcombe (Ex), 17 Doby (Ex-Mt), 23 Reese (Ex-Mt), 25 Mays (Ex), 34 Labine (Vg-Ex+), 36 Mazeroski (Ex), 41 Zimmer (Nr/Mt), 42 Podres (Ex-Mt), 44 Aaron (Ex-Mt), 46 Thomson (Ex+), 55 Drysdale (Ex-Mt), 61 Snider (Ex+), and 67 Kluszewski (Ex).
