The highlights of the collection are a number of early publications authored by Jefferson Burdick, who is universally recognized as the "Father of Card Collecting." 1) 1946 soft-cover edition of The American Card Catalog by Jefferson Burdick. Vg, with ink notations from a former owner on the cover and a number of interior pages. 2) 1957 January/February issue of Treasure Magazine, edited by Dean Wilson (hobby legend Lionel Carter is pictured on the cover). The years represented here, with number of issues for that year (if more than one) listed in parenthesis, are 1945, 1947 (9), 1948 (10), 1949 (7), and 1950. Fr-Gd overall, with toning and chipping to the brittle pages, as well as loose pages, the most common flaws. 11) Eleven different issues of The Sport Hobbyist spanning the years 1959 to 1963. This was an early hobby paper, printed on thin-paper stock, issued bimonthly. The years represented here, with number of issues for that year listed in parenthesis, are 1959 (3), 1960 (4), 1962 (2), and 1963 (2). Vg-Ex overall. 12) Twenty different issues of Sports Scoop spanning the years 1973 and 1974. This was an early hobby paper, printed on newspaper stock (some issues have a glossy cover), issued monthly.
