1910-Era Prewar-Card Collection (22) Including Croft's Cocoa Lajoie and Interesting T201 and T206 Printing Anomalies

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,185

Collection of twenty-two different cards from six classic 1910-era issues, highlighted by six cards featuring Hall of Famers, as well as three interesting printing anomalies from the T201 Double Folders and T206 White Border sets (two severely miscut T201 including one with a blank space along the right border on front and back, and one T206 that is definitely handcut on all four sides).

These cards are entirely new to the modern collecting world as they have been consigned by a gentleman who used to go door-to-door with his father in the 1970s looking for antiques. These cards were among their purchases at the time, and all the cards have been in his possession for the past forty years! This collection consists of the following: 1-10) 1911 T201 Mecca Double Folders: Baker/Downie (Fr), Bresnahan/Huggins (HOF; Vg, slightly small T/B), Clarke/Gaspar (Gd), Daubert/Rucker (Vg), Dygert/Seymour (Gd), Gardner/Speaker (HOF; Pr, severe miscut on front and back resulting in split image on both sides), Herzog/Miller (Vg), Leifield/Simon (Vg-Ex), McCabe/Starr (Vg), and Stovall/Turner (Gd, severe miscut on front and back resulting in a .75-inch wide blank space visible along the right border on both front and back - likely from being positioned on the end of a sheet). 11-12) 1912 Hassan Triple Folder: Donlin Out At First (Doyle/Merkle, presents Vg-Ex, with paper loss and glue residue on reverse) and Just Before the Battle (Ames/Meyers, presents Ex, with paper loss on reverse). 13-17) 1911 T205 Gold Border: Archer (Gd/Vg), Ewing (Vg), Griffith (HOF, Gd), Herzog (Fr), and Milan (Pr). 18-19) 1909-1911 T206 White Border: Evers/Chicago (HOF, Pr) and Livingston (Tolstoi, handcut on all four edges). 20) 1910 E90-3 American Caramel: Smith (Pr). 21) 1909 E92 Croft's Cocoa: Lajoie (HOF, Fr/Gd). 22) 1907 V. O. Hammon Postcard: Chicago Cubs team featuring Hall of Famers Brown, Chance, Evers, and Tinker (Pr, due to paper loss on front). Greater detail regarding the origin of these cards has been lost to time, but it is certainly interesting to note the presence of three fascinating printing anomalies (which is a very high concentration for such a small group of cards). This is a small but desirable lot, featuring several Hall of Famers and interesting highlights, ideal for the collector who wants real, original 1910-era cards which capture the spirit of the history of the game and collecting, but does not want to spend a fortune. Total: 22 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,185
