1952 Topps "Look 'n See" Complete Set (135) Including Babe Ruth PSA NM 7

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,133

13% Ex-Mt, 54% Ex, 33% Vg-Ex (including 5% lesser). Issued in 1952, "Look 'n See" is one of the most highly regarded and collected of all postwar sets. The 135 card fronts feature full-color portraits of famous people from all areas of history. The only sports figure in the set is Babe Ruth, and this set includes an exceptional high-grade example of this key card (graded NM 7 by PSA) in addition to an extra example of Ruth among the ten duplicates. Three cards are graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #13 Wright (NM-MT 8), 15 Ruth (NM 7 and Ex, miscut back), 30 Lindbergh (Vg-Ex+), 44 Cleopatra (NM-MT 8 [OC]), 45 Earhart (Vg-Ex+), and #82 Rembrandt (Ex). Included with the set are two original thin strips of red cellophane, which can be used to reveal the illustrated "answer" to a question about each subject on the reverse of the cards. Ten duplicates, including the Ruth already mentioned, also accompany the set. This classic and always very popular nonsport set is filled with many great historical figures. This is a fresh, clean, and attractive complete set of this scarce, early Topps issue. Total: 145 cards (complete set of 135 plus ten duplicates). Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $2,133
