1953 Bowman "Firefighters" Complete Set (64)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $415

Bowman's "Firefighters" set is one of the most popular and elusive of all 1950s nonsport gum-card issues. Presented is a high-grade complete set of all 64 cards. Twelve cards grade Nr/Mt, twenty-one cards grade Ex-Mt, and thirty-one cards grade Ex (including a few Vg-Ex). All cards are bright and crisp with centering the most noticeable flaw on many, which is very common for this issue. The set features incredible multicolor artwork illustrations of fire engines, fireboats, and rescue trucks. The back of each card in the set has a fire-prevention tip (e.g., "Don't Play with Matches") printed above the equipment descriptions, which qualifies the set as the first "safety" trading-card set ever produced. This is a very sharp-looking complete set of this very scarce issue. Total: 64 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $415
