1950 Bowman "Wild West" Near-Complete Set (155/180)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $948

Copyrighted in 1949 and released to the public in 1950, this complete set of "Wild West" cards features some of the finest artwork of any Bowman production. The set is organized into eight separate series (A through H), each with a different theme relating to the Old West: "Winning the West," "Indian Costumes," "Famous Characters," "Indian Warfare," "Cowboy Life," "Law and Order," "River Days," and "Western Stars." The offered near-complete set consists of 155 of the 180 cards from this popular set and is missing only twenty-five cards for completion. This is a very attractive and extremely consistent collection, grading 82% Vg-Ex to Ex (including a few Ex-Mt) and 18% Vg (including a few Pr). Overall, the entire set looks even nicer than its technically accurate grading might suggest. Bright, clean, and crisp with minor corner wear or centering issues the only noticeable flaws on many of the cards. This is an outstanding near-complete set of this classic nonsport issue! Total: 155 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $948
