Extremely Rare 1930s R25 American Chicle "Thrilling Stories" Booklets Partial Set (28/60)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $474
Partial set of twenty-eight (of sixty in the complete set) "Thrilling Stories" booklets issued by American Chicle in the 1930s. This is one of the all-time classic 1930s nonsport sets. Eight different characters (Corporal Blake, Crafty Keen, Flash Brown, Hal Hunter, Mirtho the Clown, Operator 7, Reckless Steele, and Yip Roper) are featured in seven- or eight-booklet subsets in this rare 1930s issue. Each eight-page booklet is extremely fragile due to its stock and is naturally susceptible to damage. Twelve booklets grade Vg-Ex, thirteen grade Vg, and three grade Fr. All the booklets are bright and crisp but have been downgraded due to minor technical concerns, such as a light crease or tiny tear. A few booklets vary in size and display natural diamond cuts as issued. The "Thrilling Stories" booklets are among the scarcest and most desirable of all 1930s "R" issues, and this partial set would be an outstanding addition to any advanced nonsport-card collection. Total: 28 booklets. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $474
