1938 R83A Gum, Inc. "Lone Ranger" Premiums Near-Complete Set (4/5)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $533

Extremely attractive near-complete set of R83A Gum, Inc., “Lone Ranger” premiums missing only #1 “Tonto Saves The Lone Ranger” for completion. Regarded by collectors as among the most visually appealing of all 1930s premiums, the R83A series is comprised of five 8 by 10-inch premiums depicting scenes from The Lone Ranger film in brilliant color and detail. The reverse features a description of the scene, a checklist of the titles included in the series, and instructions on how to obtain and display the premiums. These premiums are also particularly rare, which is no doubt related to how they were distributed. A complete set could be obtained for twenty-five wrappers and ten cents. Lone Ranger premiums are often encountered in modest grade due to their size. The offered premiums are all outstanding in appearance, presenting as Excellent or better, but technically grading more modestly due to light wrinkling in the thin stock. The colors on each of the four premiums remain vibrant. These are ideal for display and would make an outstanding accompaniment to a collection of the classic smaller-format R83 Gum, Inc., “Lone Ranger” set (as intended by Gum, Inc.) or significant addition to any nonsport collection. Total: 4 premiums. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $533
