1930 to 1941 Nonsport-Card Collection (612) Including "Horrors of War" and "Sea Raiders"

Presented is a tremendous collection of 612 cards, spanning the years 1930 to 1941, from twenty different classic nonsport sets. Some of nonsport-card collecting's most popular sets are represented, including "Horrors of War," "Sea Raiders," and "Uncle Sam/Home Defense." Incredibly, this collection has been consigned to the auction directly by the original owner, who acquired most of these cards in their year of issue. Many of the cards in the offered collection still display bold colors but have obviously been handled throughout the years. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1930 R78 World Wide Gum "Jungle Gum" (5 cards): Two #1, 2, 9, and 51. All Pr. 2) 1930 R109 Gum, Inc. "Pirate Pictures" (57 cards): Consists of 30 different cards. All Pr. 3) 1930s R128-2 Strip Cards (14 cards): #201, 208, 214, 228, 244, and 247. All Pr to Gd. Eight-card strip of #241-248. Excellent, with #248 Sitting Bull almost fully detached. 4) 1930s R128-2 Strip Cards (2 cards): #304 and 344. Both Pr. 5) 1932 R114 U.S. Caramel "Presidents" (1 card): Taylor (Vg). 6) 1933 R100 Flatbush Gum "Noah's Ark" (1 card): Bison (Fr). 7) 1933 R124 World Wide Gum "Sea Raiders" (65 cards): Consists of 23 different first-series cards (missing only #23). Each card reverse is printed entirely in English. All Pr. 8) 1933 R135 Package Confectionery "Beautiful Ships" (6 cards): #6, 8, 10, 13, 21, and 22. All Pr. 9) 1934 R80 Novelty Gum Co. "League of Nations" (4 cards): #13, 16, 27, and 46. All Pr. 10) 1935 R36 Fleer "Cops and Robbers" (3 cards): #1, 3, and 12. All Pr. 11) 1935 R41 Dick Tracy Caramels (119 cards): Consists of 31 different, including twenty-four cards #121-144. Condition of the seven low numbers is Pr; condition of the high numbers ranges from Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt, with a few lesser. 12) 1936 R20 Newport Products "Battleship Gum" (21 cards): Consists of twenty-one different cards. All Pr to Gd. 13) 1938 R69 Gum, Inc. "Horrors of War" (149 cards): Consists of 133 different, including nine rare high numbers (#241, 243, 244, 246, 251, 253, 254, 255, and 282). "Uncle Sam" (19 cards): Consists of 18 different cards. Eleven grade Vg, eight lesser. 17) 1941 R158 Gum, Inc. "Home Defense" (10 cards): Two #99, 109, 110, two 111, 114, 117, 119, and 120. Seven Vg, three lesser. 18) 1941 R164 Gum, Inc. "War Gum" (2 cards): #110 and 132. Both Gd. 19) 1941 V275 O-Pee-Chee "Empire Defenders" (79 cards): Consists of seven different cards (#21, 22, 25, 28, 30, 36, and 46). Canadian version of Gum, Inc.'s "Uncle Sam" set. Overall condition is Gd to Vg, with two lesser. 20) 1941 V277 O-Pee-Chee "Home Defence" (1 card): #33. Canadian version of Gum, Inc.'s "Home Defense" set. Presents Vg-Ex, with pencil on reverse. Also included are thirty-six assorted cards from 1950s sets, including "Freedom's War," "Fighting Marines," and "Ringside." This is a magnificent collection of nonsport cards, spanning many grades, representing some of the most classic and widely collected sets of the 1930s and 1940s.
