1909 T204 Ramly Tobacco SGC-Graded Hall of Fame Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,252

Collection of three different key Hall of Famers from the T204 Ramly set, each graded and encapsulated by SGC. One of the most elegantly designed card issues ever produced, T204 Ramlys are noted for the distinctive fancy gold-embossed borders that surround the oval photographic portraits. They are much rarer than most other tobacco-card issues from the 1910 era and are particularly condition sensitive due to their easily chipped gold borders. 1) Roger Bresnahan (GOOD 30): Excellent appearance, crease free, outstanding centering, and light wear to the corners. Downgraded due to a small spot of ink on the reverse. 2) Mordecai Brown (VG 40): Strong Vg-Ex to Ex appearance with crisp image, near-flawless gold borders, and light wear to the corners. Downgraded due to a diagonal three-inch crease which does not break through to the front and is only noticeable from the reverse. 3) Jimmy Collins (VG/EX 50): Exceptional Ex to Ex+ appearance with crisp, clean front, flawless registration, excellent centering, and almost no perceptible wear to the edges. Downgraded due to a small diagonal crease in the lower left corner. This is an extremely attractive group of three Hall of Famers from this classic set, each of which presents at a level far superior to its technically accurate assigned grade. The equivalent SMR value for this collection is $2,350. Total: 3 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,252
