1973 Kentucky Derby Full Ticket - Secretariat Triple Crown - PSA/DNA

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,370

Exceedingly rare full ticket (7.5 x 4.75 inches) to the 1973 Kentucky Derby, which was won in record time by eventual Triple Crown winner Secretariat. Encapsulated and graded "EX 5" by PSA/DNA. This is one of the rarest and most desirable Derby tickets imaginable. The fact that a full ticket exists at all is hard to believe, given the incredible demand for admission and unprecedented excitement generated by Secretariat in what was the 99th running of the Derby. A then-record crowd of 134,476 fans turned out that day and they were not disappointed, as Secretariat set a Derby record of 1:59.40, which still stands to this day. Secretariat went on to win the Triple Crown by posting record times in both the Preakness and Belmont Stakes. Today, Secretariat is regarded by most as the greatest race horse in history. This is an extraordinary and remarkably significant piece of racing history, made all the more desirable by its unused state. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,370
