1979 Muhammad Ali vs. Ken Norton Fight Poster

Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $119

Original fight poster for the heavyweight-title bout between Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton held at Yankee Stadium on September 28, 1976. The poster features an unusual artwork by Luigi Castiglione that portrays the likenesses of Ali and Norton's heads as boxing gloves. This was third and final bout between Ali and Norton, with Norton having handed Ali the second defeat of his career, not to mention a broken jaw, in their first encounter on March 31,1973. Six months later Ali returned the favor, defeating Norton by a controversial split decision. Even though Ali won the final bout in 1976 by unanimous decision to retain the heavyweight title, it was not without controversy once again, as many at ringside booed the verdict. The poster (16 x 20 inches) displays light staining along the base, minor edge tears, and a few general, light creases. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $100. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $119
