1969 Red Auerbach Boston Celtics NBA World Championship Pendant
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,666
14K gold pendant issued to legendary Boston Celtics coach Red Auerbach in commemoration of the club's 1969 World Championship. This pendant originates directly from the Auerbach estate and is one of many significant Auerbach pieces that became available in 2011 when his entire collection was sold at public auction. It is accompanied by a one-page LOA, signed by Robert Rose (agent for the Auerbach estate), attesting to its impeccable provenance. The World Championship pendant has been consigned to this auction directly from the buyer at the 2011 Auerbach estate sale (where it realized a final selling price of $6,845). The heart-shaped pendant features a raised image of the Boston Celtic Leprechaun holding a basketball, below which is a banner that is engraved with the word "Pride." The back is engraved "Boston Celtics/NBA/World Champions/1969." The pendant is missing its top fastener (can probably be easily fixed by a jeweler) and is otherwise in Excellent to Mint condition, displaying just normal handling wear. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $2,666
