1951 Topps Magic Football SGC-Graded Complete Set (75)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,067

Complete 75-card set of the second major football-card series ever issued by Topps, highlighted by Vic Janowicz's rookie card. Each card is professionally graded and encapsulated by SGC. These colorful cards, honoring college football stars, were issued the same year as Topps’ Connie Mack All Stars and Current All Stars, as well as the 1951 Topps Red and Blue Back baseball sets. This set currently ranks second on the SGC Set Registry with an overall GPA of 52.88. SGC Grading Composite: NM 84 (4 cards): #12 Weatherall RC, 28, 40, and 61. EX/NM 80 (9 cards): #8, 9, 11, 18, 42, 45, 51, 67, and 69. EX+ 70 (3 cards): #37 Marlow, 55, and 58. EX 60 (18 cards): #3, 5, 13, 15, 16, 21, 26, 34, 38, 39, 41, 44, 48 Young RC, 49, 54, 57, 59, and 68. VG/EX 50 (17 cards): #14, 19 Campbell RC, 23, 24, 27, 29, 32, 35, 43, 50, 52, 65, 66, 70, 71, 73, and 74. VG 40 (12 cards): #6, 10 Janowicz RC, 20, 25, 33, 36, 46, 47, 56, 60, 63, and 64. GOOD 30 (7 cards): #1 Monohan RC, 2 Wade RC, 4 Parilli RC, 7, 17, 62, and 75 Carey RC. FAIR 20 (3 cards): #22, 53, and 72 Bright RC. POOR 10 (2 cards): #30 Rechichar RC and 31. This is a very scarce early Topps football issue, which has always been somewhat overlooked by collectors, perhaps because the set features college players, but which is extremely significant both as an early football set and as one of Topps' earliest issues of any type. Total: 75 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,067
