1893 Yale vs. Princeton Football Program
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $711
Impressive 134-page hardcover program, designed in the shape of a football, for a Thanksgiving Day football game between Yale and Princeton on November 30, 1893, at the Polo Grounds in New York. This was the game of the year in 1893 and the one that ultimately decided the National Championship, as both teams were undefeated at the time. Playing in front of 40,000 fans (a then-record attendance for a football game), Princeton defeated Yale 6-0. The program features numerous photos of members of both clubs, as well as campus photos of both schools and the rules of the game. The program (7 x 10.5 inches) is complete as issued, but both covers and all of the interior pages have separated from the original string binding (only a portion of the string remains). That fact aside, the program remains in Very Good to Excellent condition overall, with a few pages displaying minor edge tears. Reserve $100. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $711
