1880 Yale (vs. Columbia) Football Program with Walter Camp
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,067
Fold-over scorecard issued for a collegiate football game between Columbia and Yale on November 10, 1880, at Hamilton Park. The interior section lists the rosters for each club, including the legendary Walter Camp at halfback for Yale. Camp, who is often referred to as the "Father of American Football," later enjoyed a long and successful coaching career, and was responsible for many of the early innovations in the game. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951. The reverse provides a score sheet to record the goals for each club. The program (4 x 5.5 inches), which has been neatly scored on the reverse, displays a slight area of adhesive residue along the edge of the right interior page as a result of its having once been mounted in an album; it is otherwise in Near Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,067
