1880 Yale (vs. Amherst) Baseball Program with Walter Camp

Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $474

Two-sided program (single sheet; meant to be folded over) issued for a collegiate baseball game between Amherst and Yale on June 5, 1880, at Hamilton Park. The preprinted lineup for Yale includes Walter Camp as pitcher. Camp who is often referred to as the "Father of American Football," later enjoyed a long and successful coaching career, and was responsible for many of the early innovations in the game. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951. The program (8.75 x 5.25 inches) displays a slight area of adhesive residue along the front top edge as a result of its having once been mounted in an album; it is otherwise in Near Mint condition. Reserve $100. Estimate $200+. SOLD FOR $474
