1879 Yale (vs. Harvard) Football Program
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $948
Fold-over program issued for the 1879 freshman football game between Harvard and Yale on November 22, 1879, at Hamilton Park. The Harvard and Yale freshmen played twice in 1879, with the contests marking the fourth and fifth games ever played in the series, which first began in 1876. This program appears to have been issued for the second of those two games, which was won by Yale by a score of 18-0. The interior section lists the rosters for each club, while the reverse provides a score sheet to record the goals. The program (3.5 x 4.75 inches) has been neatly scored on the reverse and displays a thin area of adhesive residue along the edge of the right interior page that is most likely the result of the program having once been mounted in an album. Without regard to that minor flaw, the program is in Near Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $948
