1928 Chocolate Jaime Boix Barcelona Boxers Die-Cut Partial Set (18/40)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $3,259

Collection of eighteen different cards from the 1928 Chocolate Jaime Boix boxing set, each graded and encapsulated by PSA, and highlighted by the inclusion of boxing greats Jack Dempsey, Jack Sharkey, and Georges Carpentier. This represents nearly one-half of the forty-card set comprised of die-cut cards featuring boxers in fighting poses. Each boxer is posed in such a way that, when placed next to the sequentially numbered card, it appears that they are engaged in a fight. Underneath the boxer is historical information (written in Spanish) corresponding to an actual fight between the boxer and his opponent featured on the sequentially numbered card. The information continues across to the bottom of the next card so that the only way to finish the story is to have both cards. Condition Report: One NM 7: #32. Six EX 5: #10, 14, 16, 23 Sharkey, 30, and 31. Five VG-EX 4: #5, 8, 25, 29, and 36. Two VG 3: #7 and 26. One GOOD+ 2.5: #13. Two GOOD 2: #3 Carpentier and 38. One PR 1: #4 Dempsey. These cards are naturally extremely condition sensitive (as are all die-cut cards) and are often found with parts missing. Each card in this collection is complete, with the lesser-graded examples downgraded due to such flaws as wrinkling, creasing, or paper loss to the fragile stock. This is an exceptional collection of cards from this fascinating, rare, and extremely unusual foreign boxing-card issue. Total: 18 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500++. SOLD FOR $3,259
