1910 E76 American Caramel Prize Fighters (Blue Backs) Near-Complete Set (16 of 20)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $474

Near-complete set of sixteen (out of twenty) different E76 American Caramel Prize Fighters, each of which is graded and encapsulated by PSA. This collection is missing only Choynski, Dixon, Gans, and Sharkey for completion. Distributed with American Caramel candy products, the E76 Prize Fighters series features only boxers and closely resembles two other issues (classified E75 and E77) which were also produced by the company around the same time. PSA Grading Composite: Four VG-EX 4: Corbett, Jeffries, McGovern, and O'Brien. Three VG 3: Britt, Hart (MC), and Ruhlin. Seven GOOD 2: Fitzsimmons, Gardner, Maher, McCoy, Munroe, Sullivan, and Walcott. Two PR 1: Corbett and Nelson. This is a very attractive near-complete set with even the modestly graded cards having a far better appearance than might be suggested by their assigned grades. Compared to baseball cards of the era, these early boxing cards, which are at least as scarce, represent a particularly outstanding value. Caramel cards, of course, tend to be far rarer than their tobacco-card counterparts. This is an outstanding near-complete set of one of the most classic boxing candy issues of the early twentieth century. Total: 16 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $474
