1946 Jimmie Foxx Lathe Bat
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $474
H&B Jimmie Foxx lathe bat dating from 1946. The bat, which measures 34 inches in length and weighs 32.2 ounces, features lathe spurs on both the knob and barrel end. Foxx's facsimile signature is stamped in the center of the bat, above which is stamped "Genuine," and below which is "Reg. U. S. Pat. Off." and "1946 - 34'." This particular lathe bat was used by H&B as a template for the production of 34-inch Jimmie Foxx pro-model bats. As noted by PSA/DNA in its accompanying LOA, "the barrel, handle and knob dimensions appear to be that of the 'F3' model." Graded "10" by PSA/DNA (as a lathe bat, not as a game-used bat). While this bat was obviously never used by "The Beast," it is from the H&B archives, it is directly related to the manufacture of Foxx bats, and is a unique and much more affordable alternative to a Jimmie Foxx game-used bat. LOA from John Taube and Vince Malta of PSA/DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $474
