1950s Brooklyn Dodgers Warm-Up Jacket Attributed to George "Shotgun" Shuba
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,778
Vintage 1950s Brooklyn Dodgers team jacket attributed to outfielder George "Shotgun" Shuba. The blue rayon jacket, with insulated body, is lettered "Dodgers" across the front and features the number "8" on the left sleeve. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in white tackle twill. A "Skinner" label and "42" size tag appear in the collar. The zipper-front garment displays moderate-to-heavy wear, indicative of one or more seasons of use. Although no name appears in the garment, the fact that Shuba wore number "8" from 1948 to 1955 and it exactly matches another George Shuba Dodgers jacket offered at auction (originating directly from Shuba), allows us to reasonably attribute it to him. Major league outer garments, such as this jacket, are scarce, especially those dating from the 1950s, making this an outstanding opportunity to obtain a significant memento from the "golden age" of Brooklyn franchise history. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,778
