1950 George "Shotgun" Shuba Brooklyn Dodgers Game-Used Road Jersey

Brooklyn Dodgers road jersey worn by outfielder George "Shotgun" Shuba in 1950. The gray flannel jersey is lettered "Dodgers" across the front and features the number "8" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in blue felt. Located in the collar are a "Rawlings" label, a "44" size tag, and a laundry tag. Both Shuba's name and the year ("George Shuba 50") are chain-stitched in blue on the left front tail. The jersey is completely original, with no alterations, and displays moderate-to-heavy wear, including light soil stains on both the front and reverse. Shuba spent half the year with Brooklyn and the other half with Montreal, the Dodgers' top farm club, in 1950. Appearing in 34 games with the Dodgers, Shuba batted .207 with 3 home runs and 12 RBI. Shuba's entire major league career (1948-1955) was spent with Brooklyn, with his best season coming in 1952, when he batted .305. He finished his career with a .259 average, 24 home runs, and 125 RBI. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,500+. SOLD FOR $1,778
