1950 The Jackie Robinson Story Spanish Lobby-Card Collection (6)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $533

Collection of six scarce Spanish-language lobby cards from the 1950 film The Jackie Robinson Story, titled here as La Historia de Jackie Robinson. The film was released in the United States by Eagle-Lion Films, but as noted on each of these cards, overseas distribution was handled by United Artists. These Spanish-language lobby cards from the film are held in extremely high regard by collectors (perhaps even more so than the Amercian versions) both because of rarity and because, unlike the American examples, each features an actual black-and-white photograph (9.5 x 7 inches) affixed to the front of the card. They also feature a few different scenes than those displayed on the American version of the lobby cards. Each of the six different cards offered here prominently features Robinson in the photo, including three game-action scenes. The cards (14 x 11 inches) all display varying degrees of light foxing, a few minor creases, edge and corner wear, and tack holes (all of which are typical flaws for most surviving examples of these cards). In Very Good condition overall. Total: 6 different lobby cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $533
