1954 Roogie's Bump Three-Sheet Movie Poster, Lobby Card, and Movie Still Signed by Roy Campanella (3)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $533

Collection of three original promotional pieces issued for the 1954 Republic Pictures release Roogie's Bump, a fanciful baseball movie in which a young boy develops a bump on his arm that allows him to become a Major League pitcher with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Part of the film's great appeal after all these years is that it starred a number of Dodger players in supporting roles, including Roy Campanella. Offered here are a three-sheet movie poster, the title-card from the lobby-card set, and a movie still signed by Campanella. The three-sheet poster (41 x 77 inches) is possibly trimmed along either the top or bottom border (three-sheets normally measure 41 x 81 inches) and has been mounted on a cardboard backing. The poster displays a few minor tears (most of which have been ameliorated by the backing process) as well as light pencil drawings on the images of Billy Loes and Russ Meyer. In Good to Very Good condition overall. Framed to total dimensions of 43 x 79.5 inches. The title card (14 x 11 inches) is in apparent Near Mint condition and has been matted and framed to total dimensions of 19.5 x 16.5 inches. The still (10 x 8 inches) pictures Roy Campanella showing a bat to "Roogie" in the Dodgers' dugout. It has been inscribed by Campanella in brown ink atop his image, "To Rich/Best Wishes/Roy Campanella." Unfortunately, both the inscription and signature are badly faded, but still discernible upon very close examination, and grade "1." In Very Good condition, with emulsions along the right border. Framed to total dimensions of 11.25 x 9.25 inches. Total: 3 items (three=sheet, title card, and autographed still). The substantial size/weight of these items requires that there will be a shipping charge for this lot (which will vary depending upon where it is being shipped). The shipping charge will be billed separately from the auction invoice. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $533
