Circa Late 1950s Ted Kluszewski “Civil Defense League” Pin
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $178
This colorful litho pin-back button features Cincinnati Reds slugger Ted Kluszewski going to bat for the Civil Defense League. The pin displays a photo of "Big Klu" at bat, with red lettering along the perimeter reading "Ted Kluszweski Civil Defense League Member." No manufacturer is listed, but a union stamp appears on the front. Because this is a "litho" pin with the design printed directly onto the metal pin (as opposed to a celluloid pin, which has the design printed on paper which is then protected by a celluloid covering), this very scarce pin when found usually has some damage in the form of dents or scratches. This is one of the finest examples of this rare pin we have seen. In Excellent to Mint condition overall. Diameter: 1 5/8 inches. Reserve $100. Estimate $200+. SOLD FOR $178
