1915 PM1 Ty Cobb Ornate Border Pin

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,185

Circa 1915 baseball pinback rarity of key Hall of Famer Ty Cobb. PM1s are one of the most distinctive and popular of all early baseball pin issues. Sometimes referred to as the "fancy border pin set," PM1s are designed with an oval real photo set in an ornately designed mount. Ty Cobb is certainly one of the keys to the set, which continues to expand even at this late date with significant new discoveries made over the past several years, including an astounding newly discovered Babe Ruth. The rarity of this pin is far greater than virtually any of the many classic cards of Ty Cobb issued during this era. The photo, which displays tremendous clarity, especially for this series, does show minor imperfections, including light crazing and three tiny surface chips which have resulted in loss of the image in those areas. The frame remains in Excellent condition. Overall Very Good condition. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $1,185
