Pair of 1910 Hermes Ice Cream Advertising Pins: Wilson and Gibson
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $948
Pair of extremely rare pins from the 1910 Hermes Ice Cream advertising-pin series featuring, respectively, John "Chief" Wilson and George Gibson. The design of this issue is similar to that of the Morton's Bread and Buster Brown pin sets featuring Detroit Tiger players, but Hermes Ice Cream pins feature Pittsburgh Pirate players and are far rarer than the Detroit pins. In fact, far fewer than 100 Hermes pins in total are known to exist. Both pins retain their original paper backing. The Gibson pin remains in extraordinary Near Mint condition. The Wilson pin displays a few very light scratches on the front and is in Excellent to Mint condition. This is a very attractive pair from one of the rarest of all celluloid baseball-pinback sets. Diameter: 1.25 inches. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $948
