1996 Atlanta Braves National League Championship Ring
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,666
This stylish 10K gold ring was issued to Jerry Nyman, a minor-league staff member of the Atlanta Braves, in commemoration of the club's 1996 National League Championship. Ideally, Nyman has included a signed LOA documenting its provenance. In full: "My name is Jerry Nyman. This is my 1996 World Series Championship ring. It was awarded to me as a minor league Pitching coach/coordinator for the Atlanta Braves. It is original and has never been worn. " The front design features the Braves team name and tomahawk logo resting within a multitude of tiny diamonds. The bezel features four red rubies and reads "Atlanta - N. L. Champs." The left shank is lettered "1996/Five Straight/League/Championship Series/4 out of 5/World Series." The right shank displays a representation of Atlanta Fulton County Stadium and is lettered "Nyman/Atlanta Fulton Co. Stadium/1966-1996/Staff." Engraved on the interior band is the Josten's insignia and "10K." Produced during an era when gaudiness reached new heights in championship rings, this elegant example stands out as one of the most artistically sophisticated and classic designs of all Championship rings. This is the first 1996 Atlanta Braves Championship ring we have ever offered and it must be noted that it is exactly the same size as the rings the Braves players received (sometimes staff-member and executive rings are sized or designed differently). The Braves may have fallen just short in the Series against the Yankees, but the club certainly hit a home run with regard to this beautiful, rare, and exclusive keepsake awarded only to players and high-level franchise employees. Near Mint to Mint condition. Size: approximately 11.5. Weight: 36.45 grams. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,666
