Circa 1960s Dodgers Vero Beach Spring-Training Clubhouse Sign
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $356
This large, circular wooden sign features a painted illustration of a baseball diamond and three-dimensional representations of four baseballs adorning the perimeter. Both the team name "Dodgers" and the Dodgers team logo have been applied in die-cut lettering, respectively, along the top and bottom borders. Our consignor, who has had this piece for many years, was told that it once hung at Dodgertown, the club's longtime spring-training facility located in Vero Beach, Florida. Although no documentation accompanies the piece, it certainly has the "look" of a sign that would have been displayed in Dodgertown, including evidence of many layers of paint. The fact that it features the club's "Los Angeles" logo probably dates it to the 1960s or 1970s. The sign (32 inches in diameter and one-half-inch thick) displays heavy wear, including two circular cracks in the wood near the center, heavy abrasions to the tops of the protruding baseballs, and general surface abrasions and scratches throughout. In Very Good condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $356
