Mickey Mantle Milestone Home-Run Ticket and Program Collection: Home Runs #100, 200, 300, 400, and 500!
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $1,185
Extraordinary Mickey Mantle milestone home-run collection, comprised of ticket stubs from the games in which he hit his 100th, 200th, 300th, 400th, and 500th career home runs, plus a scored program from the game in which he hit his 500th career home run. Each of these tickets is rare, and we cannot recall having ever seen all five assembled and offered together at auction, let alone with a 500th home-run program. It should be noted that our consignor insisted that we offer these items as a group, making it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some collector to acquire the cornerstone foundation for a world-class Mantle home-run ticket collection. 1) 100th Career Home Run. New York Yankees ticket stub from the June 19, 1955, game against the Chicago White Sox. Off of Sandy Consuegra, seventh inning, second game of the doubleheader. 1.5 x 2.75 inches. Vg-Ex, with minor creases and uneven tear at base. 2) 200th Career Home Run. New York Yankees ticket stub from the July 26, 1957, game against the Detroit Tigers. Off of Jim Bunning, ninth inning. 1.5 x 2.75 inches Ex, with an uneven tear at base. 3) 300th Career Home Run. Washington Senators ticket stub from the July 4, 1960, game against the Yankees. Off of Hal Woodeshick, first inning. 1.5 x 3 inches. Ex, with ink notations on reverse and uneven tear at base. 4) 400th Career Home Run. Detroit Tigers ticket stub from the September 10, 1962, game against the Yankees. Off of Hank Aguirre, fifth inning. 1.5 x 3 inches. Ex, with a paper-clip impression at the top. 5-6) 500th Career Home Run. New York Yankees ticket stub and program from the May 14, 1967, game against the Baltimore Orioles. Off of Stu Miller, seventh inning. The ticket (1.5 x 2.75 inches) has the notation, "Mick 500" written in ink on the front. This is a grand-stand ticket and does not bear the date, but it is numbered for game "13," which is the game in 1967 that Mantle hit his 500th career home run. Also, it should be noted that the ticket and program were acquired together. Fr-Gd, with adhesive residue on both the front and reverse. The 24-page program (7 x 10 inches) has been scored in blue ink and dutifully records Mantle's 500th home run in the seventh inning. There is an approximate 1.5 x 2.5-inch area of paper loss at the top of the Yankee scoring sheet and a small edge tear at the top that affects front cover and a few pages; otherwise Ex-Mt. Total: 6 items (5 ticket stubs and 1 program). Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,185
