1955 Brooklyn Dodgers World Championship Pendant (Dieges & Clust, 14K)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,778
Extremely rare 14 K-gold pendant issued by the Brooklyn Dodgers in commemoration of the club's 1955 World Championship. The heart-shaped pendant features a blue, synthetic stone in the center, along the perimeter of which is lettered "Brooklyn World Champions." The reverse reads "1955 Dodgers" in blue lettering. The manufacturer's name, "Dieges & Clust," and "14k" are engraved on the reverse. This pendant, which was almost certainly produced for the players' wives and/or female front-office personnel, is a rare souvenir from Brooklyn's 1955 Championship season and is just the second example we have ever seen.(Incredibly, we have seen more 1955 Dodgers World Series rings at auction than we have pendants!) Given the prohibitive cost of a 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers World Series ring (Don Newcombe's 1955 Dodgers ring just recently sold at auction for $125,000), this pendant is probably the next best alternative for any collector wishing to obtain an official team-issued presentation piece commemorating the Dodgers' first and only World Championship while in Brooklyn. The pendant (1.25 x 1.5 inches) is in Near Mint condition. Weight: approximately 15 grams. LOA from TJ Kaye PSA/DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,778
