Presented are twelve examples in incredibly high grade from the T204 Ramly series, each graded and encapsulated either NM/MT 88 or NM/MT+ 92 by SGC. All of these cards are early SGC-graded examples and the only examples graded at their respective levels with none higher (with the exception of one card, Bell, which has one card graded higher). NM/MT and NM/MT+ are astounding grades for T204 Ramlys, which are among the most condition-sensitive sets in existence, with fragile gold borders easily susceptible to chipping. Only sixteen cards (of any subject) have ever been graded NM/MT+ by SGC (six of which are included in this lot) and only twenty-two cards (of any subject) have ever been graded NM/MT (also six of which are included in this lot). As noted in the introduction to the Ramly section of this auction, we believe that some of the early SGC-graded T204 Ramlys were sheet-cut decades ago by legendary hobby pioneer Frank Nagy, who in the 1970s had a pristine T204 Ramly sheet (the only one in existence), and this fact is likely related to the near-perfection of these cards. The twelve cards offered in this collection are all bright and crisp, with flawless gold borders, sharp corners, outstanding centering, and flawless images. Upon extremely close inspection, each card displays some minor flaw (light wrinkles, cracking to the surface, or toning on the reverse), which causes them to be overgraded in our opinion (without consideration given to the possibility that they are sheet-cut). Despite the minor technical faults, this is a spectacular group and, as can easily be seen, each card displays exceptionally well. The collection consists of the following: Six NM/MT+ 92: Byrnes, McCormick, Ruelbach, Ritchey, Schlei, and Spencer. Six NM/MT 88: Bell, Dineen, Ferguson, Karger, Nichols, and Sweeney. Total: 12 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $7,703
