Circa 1940s Sidney Lucas The American National Game of Baseball Aquatint Print
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $356
Colorful Sidney Lucas aquatint print titled The American National Game of Base Ball is a vintage reproduction of the famous 1866 Currier & Ives lithograph depicting the 1865 Grand Match at the Elysian Fields in Hoboken, New Jersey. Over the years, several printmakers have made art prints of exceptional quality featuring this classic image. It is not known exactly when the Sidney Lucas art prints were made. It is possible that they date anywhere from the 1930s to the early 1950s, as printmaker Sidney Lucas operated The Old Print Gallery in the diamond district of New York City from about 1929 to the 1950s. The print displays a few minor creases and is in Very Good condition overall. Dimensions: 23 x 16.25 inches. Matted and framed to total dimensions of 29 x 22.5 inches. Reserve $100. Estimate $300+.
