1913-1950 Pacific Coast League Collection Including Programs, Ball, and Stock Certificates (9)

This eclectic collection of Pacific Coast League material, spanning the years 1913 to 1950, is comprised of five programs, two stock certificates, a baseball, and a candy tin. 1) 1913 Venice (vs. Sacramento) program. The eight-page program (5.75 x 8.75 inches) features portrait images of team owners W. H. Berry and Ed. R. Maier on the cover. Not scored. Vg, with a small crease in the lower right corner and two small areas of paper loss/adhesive residue on the back cover from having once been mounted in an album. 2) Circa early 1900s Bishop & Company candy tin. This nearly square metal tin (9 x 8 x 7.5 inches), with hinged lid, once contained an unknown number of the company's "Petite Wafers." PCL card collectors will be very familiar with the Bishop & Company name, as it issued three different Pacific Coast League candy cards (designated E99, E100, and E221) during the years 1910 and 1911. The tin is heavily worn, displaying heavy oxidation as well as minor scratches and dings. Fr-Gd. 3) 1916 Salt Lake Base Ball Club stock certificate. The certificate, dated April 18, 1916, and numbered "452," records the sale of ten shares of capital stock to "L. B. McCormick." It is signed in black fountain pen by team president "F. S. Murphy" and the club secretary. The certificate (9 x 5.5 inches) displays two vertical folds, one of which is slightly torn along the base. Vg-Ex. 4) 1939 Seattle Rainier Baseball Club stock certificate. The certificate, dated August 22, 1939, and numbered "226," records the sale of 100 shares of capital stock to "Lewis C. Troughton." It is signed in black ink by team president Emil Sick and the club's secretary. The certificate (11 x 8 inches) displays two vertical folds and light adhesive residue along the left border. Ex. 5) 1941 Pacific Coast League All-Star Game program. 20-page program (8 x 10 inches) for the first annual PCL All-Star Game held on July 29, 1941, at Seals Stadium in San Francisco. Not scored. There is a light adhesive residue on both covers, otherwise Ex. 6) 1944-1954 official PCL (Rowland) ball in its original box. Aside from some very minor age toning, the ball remains in Mint condition. The box retains its original paper seal and is also in spectacular Nr-Mt to Mt condition. 7) 1947 John B. Old's 47 Coast League Annual. This 16-page soft-cover annual (8.5 x 10.75 inches) lists all of the pertinent league records for each season beginning in 1903. Vg-Ex, with some light staining along the top border. 8) 1949 San Francisco Seals yearbook. The 32-page yearbook (7.75 x 10.5 inches) features photos and brief biographies for all of the Seals team members. Vg-Ex. 9) 1950 Rollie Truitt's Scrapbook - Beavers. This 18-page soft-cover annual (10.75 x 8.5 inches) focuses on the Portland Beavers and features photos and brief biographies for all of the Portland players.
