Circa 1930 Babe Ruth Original Photo PSA/DNA Type 1

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $948

Original undated photograph of Babe Ruth as he takes a practice swing on the sidelines during spring training. Encapsulated and certified by PSA/DNA as a Type 1 original "Thorne" photograph. The photographer's credit stamp appears on the reverse (Thorne Studios was one of several photography studios used by the Yankees to take official publicity/reference photos for the club). Despite the fact that PSA/DNA has labeled the photo as "c. 1920," Ruth's girth almost certainly dates it to the early 1930s. This is a classic image of Ruth and one of the finest examples dating from the twilight of his career with the Yankees. The photo (8 x 10 inches) displays a few extremely minor surface wrinkles (only visible when viewed at certain angles) and is Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $948
