Early "Silent Era" Baseball Lobby-Card Collection (3) - One with John McGraw and Hughie Jennings!

Trio of early theatrical lobby cards issued for two baseball movies produced during Hollywood's "silent era." 1) Lobby card (most likely the title card) for the 1919 Paramount Pictures release of The Busher, starring Charles Ray. The card features a scene from the film featuring Ray in the title role, along with two other performers. The card (14 x 11 inches) displays staple holes in the corners (three of which have been reinforced on the reverse with clear tape), minor edge tears, and a small corner chip in the upper right. In Very Good condition overall. 2-3) Two lobby cards for the 1925 Patheserial release Play Ball, starring Allene Ray and Walter Miller. As noted on both cards, this film was based on a story by John McGraw. This serial was released in six chapters. Both cards are from "Chapter No. 1 - 'To the Rescue.'" The title card features a large portrait image of Ray and a smaller image of Miller in uniform. The other card features Hall of Famers John McGraw and Hughie Jennings in the Giants dugout giving advice to Miller in his role as Jack Rollins. Both cards (14 x 11 inches) displays tack and/or staple holes along the border areas, with the title card displaying two tack holes in the central image as well. Without reference to the tack and/or staple holes each card is in Excellent condition overall. Total: 3 lobby cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $830
